In one of her interviews for Anna KareNina in 2013, she was asked about what kind of role she wanted to try in her next teleserye. Barbie said that she wanted to try to be a “serious kontrabida”. As an actress, she wanted to try all roles, “Gusto ko pong magkontrabida, serious kontrabida. Gusto ko namang ma-try.
“Kasi, palagi na lang ako yung mabait. Actually, gusto ko pong i-try lahat.”
Twenty-two-year-old Barbie started in showbiz playing the young Jodi in the Korean Teleserye remake “Stairway to Heaven‘ in 2009.
She also appeared in movies such s Tween Academy: Class 2012, The Road, and in an indie film Puntod for which she won as New Movie Actress of the year form the 26th PMPC Star Awards for movies.
Barbie is also a singer and released her self-entitled album, Barbie Forteza, under MCA Records and her single “Meron Ba” became the theme song for the Koreanovela, Big.

In 2014, she got her big break when she played the lead role in the teleserye The Half-Sister with Thea Tolentino. She also won the Best Supporting Actress award from the 10th Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival for the film Mariquina.
She worked on more projects like Dangwa (2015), That’s My Baby (2016), Meant to be (2017), My Love from the star (2017), Super Ma’am (2018), Inday will always love you (2018), Daddy’s gurl (2019), Kara Mia (2019), Love You Two (2019).
With all her accomplishments and success in different series, GMA Network has called her the Kapuso Primetime Princess.
