For the #ExtendTheLove Presents Actors’ Cue fundraiser for the displaced film workers, Daniel Padilla along with director Adolf Alix, Jr. and actors Zanjoe Marudo and Joshua Garcia shared their experiences as actors.
Padilla disclosed what motivated him to give his all when it comes to acting.
According to him, it all started when he got paired up with his long time on and off-screen partner, Kathryn Bernardo in the weekend series, Growing Up.
“Nung napasok ako sa Growing Up na nandoon si Kathryn. Siguro una kase magiging partner ko si Kathryn Bernardo eh di ba artista yun nung bata pa, nag Mara Clara na siya nun.”

Along the pressure of working with an actress who has been in the business since she was a child, Daniel also said he had to face bashers right away.
“Tapos nung pumasok ako, dun ko first time maka kita ng mga bashers. Dahil galit sila sa akin dahil ang original na love team ni Kathryn ay si Albie (Casino) sabay next show biglang ako yung kasama.”
Back then, Kathryn was paired with actor Albie Casino, known as KathBie, and some were not pleased that he was replaced by Daniel. Because of the bashing, Daniel realized he had to step up for Kathryn Bernardo, “Dun ako nagkaroon. Kailangan galingan ko to. Kailangan kong patunayan sa kanila na worthy ako para kay Kathryn and ako sobrang nahihiya ako kina Kathryn.
“Ayokong pumalpak dahil ako yung baguhan. Andun na siguro yung maiintindihan nila pero nasa sa akin na yung extra effort na mas huyasan ko.
“Di ko sinasabi ang galing ko huh dahil nung pinapanood ko nung huli sa sarili ko pag may napapanood ako mga clips. I did my best and dun na umano sa akin na kailangan kong husayan at uh kailangan kong galingan para sa co actor ko, kay Kathryn.”
Daniel’s efforts have since the Kathniel tandem is one of the most sought love teams in the country.
The actor admitted that is difficult and challenging because they were worried that fans might get tired of them.
“Mahirap kase ang dami na naming nagawa e, ang dami na naming pelikula na nagawa at laging challenge yung paano na ‘to ngayon, paano niyo na naman iibahin ‘to, di ba?”
“Nung simula kame ng The Hows of Us, ang daming mga tanong sa aming dalawa. Baka hinde na panoorin o hiindi na kumita ang pelikula na yun kase nagwa niyo na.”
But the actor feels satisfied every time they overcome this fear and challenge together.
“Mas challenging yet satisfying lalo na pag maganda ang outcome. At least parang na-overcome mo na naman yung pagsubok.”
