Lawyer Larry Gadon has decided to withdraw his TRO petition against the NTC.
In a motion dated May 21, Gadon, who’s notorious for his viral “bobo” expression, said the “evil” he wanted to prevent with the petition he filed “no longer exists.”
“Clearly, the acts sought to be enjoined did not materialize and had been overtaken by these events. Further the issues raised by herein petitioner had already been rendered moot and academic by the above-mentioned events,” Gadon said.
“Thus, in order not to waste the time of this Honorable Supreme Court, and to spare the handling ponente in resolving the herein petition, petitioner respectfully withdraws the same,” he added.
Gadon asked the Supreme Court to stop the National Telecommunications Commission from issuing provisional authority to ABS-CBN whose franchise was about to expire.
Gadon urged the Supreme Court to issue a temporary restraining order preventing the NTC from complying with the House franchise committee’s order for the issuance of a provisional authority in favor of the media network.
Gadon’s “evil” may be pertaining to Congress and House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano because they were the ones who wrote a letter to the NTC to issue a PA to ABS-CBN in February. The letter was however ‘ignored’ by the NTC as they issued a cease and desist order against the media company.
In a recent statement, Gadon scored Cayetano for being a ‘Dilawan’ for allegedly aiding ABS-CBN with the provisional authority.
“Hindi naman pala nag aapply ang ABS-CBN Corporation ng prangkisa pero kusa niyang [Cayetano] binibigay.
“Tapos sinasabi niya na maraming violations ang ABS-CBN kaya bibigyan muna ng provisional authority. Anong klaseng kabobohan yan?!” Gadon said.
“Halatang hatala binebenta talaga tayo ni Alan Cayetano. Dapat palitan na yang Cayetano na yan eh!
“Hindi dapat naging speaker yan!” he added.
