As a Kapamilya Celebrity who has been with ABS-CBN for almost 11 years, it must have been difficult for comedian Vice Ganda on the abrupt shutdown of the said network.
On his Twitter account just an hour after the ABS CBN signed off, the It’s Showtime host tweeted about the decision of National Telecommunication Commission.
Vice stressed that NTC’s Cease and Desist order would not just affect the employees of the company but the other Filipinos as well.

Followed by this tweet, Vice Ganda shared a screenshot of his mother’s heartbreaking text message about the ABS-CBN shutdown.

But some netizens found Vice’s reaction as being hypocritical since he supported Duterte.
A netizen posted a photo of Vice with President Rodrigo Duterte when the latter guested on Gandang Gabi, Vice!

Way back in 2015, Vice revealed that he hoped that then Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte would run for President in the 2016 elections.
In an interview with PUSH, the 39-year-old It’s Showtime host was asked if he already had a presidential nominee in mind.
At that time, 70-year-old mayor declared that he had no plans to pursue the presidency and that he would retire from public office the following year.
Last May 5, 2020 the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) issued a cease and desist order against broadcast giant ABS-CBN.
It directed ABS-CBN broadcasting corporation to stop operating their various TV and radio broadcasting stations nationwide.
