Tootsy Angara, wife of Senator Sonny Angara, revealed on her Instagram account that they have a neighbor who’d like them out of the neighborhood, while some refuse to deliver essentials to their home.
This was after the senator positive for COVID-19. Nevertheless, Tootsy thoroughly understands the reason behind the discrimination.
She said: “As soon as the news came out, some have refused to deliver essentials to our home. A neighbor wished to have us out of our neighborhood and I don’t blame them. To our other neighbors who showed us acts of kindness, thank you.”
Apparently, Sonny is now under self-quarantine as per Tootsy who last held his hands two weeks ago when they watched an online mass as a family. She also expressed gratitude for people who remain kind and gave them necessities, while the main provider of their family is under quarantine.
She continued: “Family and friends sent us drinking water when we ran out, they sent us oxygen too, the 2 most essential things in life, water and air. Some sent us fruits, vegetables, medical supplies, cleaning aids and vitamins for our household. The dear doctors who have been patiently answering my messages, inquiries and questions.”

On the contrary, the discrimination for health workers in Cebu and Tacurong City is much worse than what Tootsy experienced. One of the employees of St. Luis Hospital in Tacurong City was ganged up on by five men who splashed Zonrox bleach on his face right in front of the public market in President Quirino.
The second incident happened to a male nurse located in Cebu City where two unidentified men splashed chlorine on his leg that led a doctor to express his dismay and warn the people to stop terrorizing the health workers risking their lives to save COVID-19 patients.
“People please do not terrorize our health care workers. The COVID-19 is scary enough. No need for additional acts of abuse and vandalism. My nurses are not the virus, they are our warriors in fighting it and helping to keep our patients alive.”
