President Rodrigo Duterte, a known night owl, has previously “tentatively” scheduled a presscon at 4PM to address the Filipino nation amidst COVID-19 crisis. To everyone’s dismay, the speech was aired at around 11PM.
This is something that returning spokesperson Harry Roque intends to fix.
Interviewed on ‘Dobol B sa News TV’, Roque affirmed he will work with People’s Television Network (PTV4) about the matter.
“Now that I am back, I will coordinate with PTV4, on ‘Radyo ng Bayan’, for an earlier broadcast,” he said.
“Tingin ko naman dahil maaga naman kaming natapos kahapon, puwede talagang naere nang mas maaga kahapon ‘yun,” added Roque.
“Susubukan po natin na gawan ng paraan na ang lahat po ng mensahe ng Presidente ay mapa-aga ang broadcast,” Roque said.
On Monday, Roque assumed responsibility as the Presidential Spokesperson as “the present crisis requires a new tack in messaging,” according to outgoing spokesperson Salvador Panelo.
As to the president’s nightly presscon, there’s very little surprise to know that local celebrities and netizens are now accustomed to a late-night evening addresses.
Kip Oebanda said people are used to the government being late, whether it comes to televised speeches or imposing a much-needed travel ban.

Gang Capati waited for the president because she needed to focus on helping out smaller hospitals should the president say in his speech that the had the major hospitals covered.
There's a reason why I'm WAITING FOR THIS #COVIDRESPONSE PALACE DAPAT 4PM PRESSCON:
I WANT HIM TO SAY THEY WILL COVER THE GOVT HOSPITALS SO @TOWNSfoundation CAN FOCUS ON SMALLER HOSPITALS THAT FALL THROUGH THE CRACKS BUT SERVE THE FURTHER FLUNG AREAS. <end>

Zsa Zsa Padilla prayed the rosary, thinking she would be back in time to hear the speech given how late the speech was. She even apparently watched the iWant show Uncoupling while waiting.
Nauubos na oras ko. Char. Mag rosary na muna kami. Feeling ko abot pa.
