To commemorate Ramadan this year, Robin Padilla posted on Instagram a photo of himself taken last 1997 while he was in New Bilibid Prison.
During those years he was in prison, “Binoe” shared that he has learned five aspects of Islam and he saw the opportunity to finish his studies and forget about his fame he got from working in the entertainment industry for years.
Robin said: “1997 ang kuha na ito sa loob ng maliit na masjid sa likod ng barracks ng Inmates Custodial Aid sa campo sampaguita new bilibid prisons dito ako nag aral ng 5 haligi ng Islam. Iniwan ng permanente ang Estrella/stars na ikinabit sa aking pagkatao ng pelikula. Inilaan ko ang aking panahon sa bilibid sa pag aaral kayat don ko natapos ang aking highschool at daan para magtuloy tuloy na matapos ang college.”
To clarify his intention of posting his throwback photo, Robin said life in New Bilibid Prison and under quarantine is quite similar, except people have smartphones to keep them occupied.
He continued: “Naisulat ko ito ngayon sa panahon ng lockdown dahil napakalaking pagkakahawig ng buhay natin ngayon sa aking buhay sa bilibid. Ang pagkakaiba lang ay may smartphone ngayon pero maliban don parehas na ang lahat.”

Additionally, despite the criticisms from Anti-Duterte followers, Robin did not hesitate to help frontliners and fellow movie workers who have lost their jobs due to the lockdown.
