- Vico Sotto’s hiring of medical workers in Pasig City was praised by netizens
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto has earned positive remarks once again after announcing that the city is hiring medical workers.
His move was admired compared to the Department of Health’s (DOH) asking for health workers to volunteer.
Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that there will be three referral hospitals that would focus solely on treating COVID-19 patients and volunteers would be deployed in there.
Netizens slammed the idea of volunteers working grueling hours and getting exposed to the fatal COVID-19 disease without getting paid. DOH then gained the ire of many health workers who also complained about their low salary bracket here in the country.
In a Twitter post, Vico thanked medical workers for their hard work in battling the infectious disease. He then invited other doctors and nurses to apply and help out the city—with pay.
Vico wrote, “I’m thankful & proud of our doctors. Walang reklamo kahit sobrang pagod an. But the fact is, our city hospitals are nearing saturation point. WE NEED MORE HUMAN RESOURCES.
