- A two-year-old post from Mon Confiado resurfaced on the internet.
- He dreams of having a film industry as such
After Erik Matti and Joey Reyes posted about Korean dramas, a two-year-old post from Mon Confiado resurfaced on the internet.
On his Facebook post, he said: “I envy Korean Cinema!” during his filming in South Korea for ‘The Golden Holiday.
He detailed many reasons the Korean Entertainment Industry is very successful and said: “Now I understand why their film industry is booming.”
He shared that each theater in the country must screen a domestic film for at least 146 days a year as mandated by the South Korean government. The Korean Film Council (KOFIC), a self-ministered body is responsible for promoting and supporting the film industry on both national and international levels.
Mon also observed that films are encouraged to have creativity and reinforcement of tradition and culture which is very evident.
“Their approach is that instead of censoring or cutting scenes out, they allow it to be preserved the way the director intended. The film will only depend on the Korean Media Ratings Board (KMRB) to ensure that they won’t be seen by impressionable people of a certain age.”

“If you take a look at K-dramas and movies that became popular overseas, you will see that many are period dramas. These dramas do a great deal in promoting Korean history and culture to the outside world.”
Aside from these, other factors such as movie making courses, well-paid staff, and enforcement of taxes.
At the end of his post, he dreams to have the same kind of film industry.
Add all these to other factors such as movie making courses, well-paid staff, and enforcement of taxes making the industry every actor’s dream.
“I’m dreaming that one day our film industry will be like this.”
