Comedienne Ethel Booba shocked the netizens last April 9 when she abruptly disowned and said that the popular Twitter account @IamEthylGabison was not hers.
Now, the comedienne wants to find out who the person behind the ‘controversial’ twitter account is and sue him/her.
Ethel explained in a series of YouTube comments from Fashion Pulis, that she never took advantage of the popular Twitter account, and she wants to sue the person behind the account.
When asked why she wants to do so, the comedienne said, “Profited yan ang sinabi ko di kayo ang niloko ng fake account na yan. Pati ako ginamit.”
Ethel clarified that she never profited from the Twitter account, “Wala akong pinagkakitaan kahit sino sa inyo sumosobra na lang ang panggamit niya pati current situation na meron tayo ginagawa nyang biro at ako ang nadadamay.”
After the quarantine is over, the comedienne said that she will find the culprit behind this, “Sue if you want. That’s what I’m gonna do pagkatapos ng quarantine papahanap ko kung sino man yang taong gumamit sa name ko.”
Last April 9, 2020, Ethel disowned the Twitter account and posted a screenshot of it on her Instagram page (linked to her vlog), saying “Watch out for this FAKE! Twitter! ”
Most of the tweets criticized Duterte’s administration, which caused the account to garner more than a million followers on Twitter. The account became popular with his humorous but witty and controversial comments on Philippine politics, often ending with Ethel’s signature line,” Charot! ”
Tracking back, in August of 2016, she announced that she would be releasing a book called #Charotism: The Wit and Wisdom of Ethel Booba.
In October, her page already had close to 300,000 fans. She even had an interview on Tonight with Boy Abunda where she spoke about becoming a Twitter star and confirmed that she was the person behind the viral tweets.
Last 2019, she even revealed that she had a social media consultant who edits most of her tweets before she posts.

“Sa panahon ngayon ‘di na basta-basta puwede magbitaw ng salita sa social media dahil matatalino ang mga tao dito, ako lang ang ‘di pa sure. Charot! ”
Netizens have a lot of theories about why Ethel suddenly turned around and washed her hands of an account that has never been afraid of getting political and calling out public officials when needed.
