Guess how some celebrities got their screen names.
Coco Martin, for example. Who would believe his real name is Rodel Nacianceno?
It was Jaclyn Jose’s and Cherry Pie Picache’s former entertainment manager and talent manager Ed Instrella who suggested the screen name, Coco Martin, It was the height of Coco Lee’s singing career and of Ricky Martin’s.
Coco was reluctant to use the screen name at first. But what happened next is history. Coco is currently considered as local TV’s Primetime King, courtesy of his now four-year-old series, FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.
As director and writer, however, Coco still uses his real name.
Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado is really named Maria Victoria Hernandez.
Rumor has it that Lani was introduced to Mother Lily Monteverde by her discoverer, Nora Calderon, an entertainment reporter and columnist. Mother Lily’s face supposedly soured upon hearing Lani’s true name. It was too long and sounded a little bit old.
That is when prominent writer and editor, Ricky Lo suggested the name Lani and the surname, Mercado after then tv host, Orly Mercado.
