On Monday evening, John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo left a question in the minds of the netizens after their Instagram Live session. Could Sarah Geronimo be John Lloyd Cruz’s great love?
To prove their closeness as friends, Alonzo challenged Cruz to ask her random questions about himself.
Among the questions, Cruz asked Alonzo his favorite color and movie.
Alonzo confidently knew a lot about her longtime onscreen partner and even teased Cruz that she could name his first love or great love.
To stop her from revealing the name, Cruz said: “Hindi na, huwag na, okay na ‘yun. Huwag na, naniniwala na [akong marami kang alam sa akin]. Close tayo. Sobrang close natin.”
The two continued with their conversation as they exchanged memorable lines from their past project together in 2002 “Kay tagal Kang Hinintay“. Then suddenly Cruz dropped a line from the movie “A Very Special Love” where he starred with Sarah Geronimo.
Alonzo immediately reacted saying: “Taray. Hindi ako kasama diyan. Ibang pelikula iyan. Nakakabuwisit. Hindi ako ‘yun.”
Then Cruz teased her that perhaps she was the one who was “jealous”.
She couldn’t stop giggling and said: “Hindi no! Wala akong laban dun. GL (great love) ‘yun eh. Anong laban ko dun?”
Sarah Geronimo and Cruz had worked in four movies together including the blockbuster trilogy of romance movies, “A Very Special Love” (2008), “You Changed My Life” (2009), and “It Takes A Man and A Woman” (2013).
In 2017, they were interviewed if there was a possibility that their on-screen romance could blossom into something more.
During the interview with ABS-CBN news MJ Felipe, Cruz said that “Timing wasn’t a friend,” as he explains why he didn’t “confront” his feeling for Geronimo.
“Hindi ko iyon nasabi about her,” Cruz said. “Kaya siguro hindi siya umabot doon kasi hindi naman talaga nagkaroon ng opportunity para mag-blossom into something deeper than friendship or deeper than whatever connection that we have.”
In Felipe’s interview with Geronimo, who was already in a relationship with Matteo Guidicelli then, shesaid that she felt “joy” whenever she would see Cruz smile.
“I guess iyong relationship namin as co-actors, friends for me it’s the best,” she said. “Kasi we can argue sa mga ibang bagay, nagkakasamaan kami ng loob.
“But at the end of the day, iyong pinagsamahan namin intact pa rin. Kasi I respect him and I care about him as a person.
“At sabi ko nga, makita ko lang siya na masaya, masaya na rin ako. What a joy kapag nakikita ko siyang masaya at nayayakap ko siya na OK ang lahat, masaya ang lahat.”
Currently, Geronimo and Matteo are happily married while Cruz has a child with Ellen Adarna.
