Known die-hard Duterte supporter Arnell Ignacio shared his sentiments on Pinoy voting behavior.
In a YouTube video shared by Rider PH Studios, Arnell elaborated on how Pinoys view leadership and governance as a choice of the heart and not of the mind.
“Ang dali dali nating maniwala. Kasi nga lagi ang, lagi tayong kung magcomprehend base sa emotion eh hindi dito (pointing to his head) eh. Kung maganda yung dating wow tayo,” he said.
Arnell even used Ethel Booba as an example to drive his point. He said because of Ethel’s wit, many are saying she should be appointed or elected to a government position.
“Tignan mo with all due respect kay Ethel Booba ah, tawang-tawa ako dyan. Si Ethel yung nagsusulat sa kanya very, very witty pero meron ka ngayon maririnig, Ethel na para bang nirerekomenda for a position.
“Tingnan nyo nga yun koneksyon na yun. Again with all due respect kay Ethel ah. But take a look at how our pysche works pagkanatuwa tayo icocorelate mo ito na sya ay maging leader? Don’t you think there’s something very wrong about our thought process di ba?”
Ethel has been known on social media for her on point and witty opinions on socio-political issues. She has always been critical about the incompetence and abuses of the government which she often shares on social media especially on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Arnell has also characterized voter’s behavior as “tanga” or ridiculously stupid.
“See kasi kung paano tayo magacess ng isang situation ang tingin natin ang common denominator ng relevance nito kapag natuwa ka. Which is ridiculously stupid di ba?
“Take a look pag namimili ka ng leader tignan mo mga pamantayan natin ah kung sino yung uminom sa baso mo ay makatao yan so dapat maging brgy. captain sya, dapat maging mayor sya. You get me. Bakit ganun ang thought process natin?
“Kaya ngayon tignan mo mga pulitiko sumasayaw nagpapatawa eh kasi pag natuwa ka boboto mo sya.
“Tignan mo yung mga pamantayan natin ng mahusay. Di ba’y ung pamantayan natin ng mahusay puro kabig para sa sarili mo. Kaya kung kaibigan mo malakas ka kahit mali ang gagawin mo kapag sinuportahan ka nya.”
What is ironic is that Arnell seems to have failed to realize that the so-called stupid Pinoy voter behavior was the one that propelled the president and his allies into power today. Arnell may have not realized that he and his fellow DDS supporters are the ones he is describing in the video.
Duterte is known for his messianic speeches and uber melodramatic rhetoric. During the campaign, Duterte supporters rallied behind him because of his bold campaign promises that up until now have not been fulfilled.
Like Arnell, Duterte supporters are always fond of defending the President’s vulgar words which according to them is just the mark of being a true person.
Arnel has been appointed twice to a government position. First was at PAGCOR and later on at the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA). But he left his government post and went back to showbiz.
