Star Magic artists including Piolo Pascual, Bea Alonzo, Jericho Rosales, Sam Milby, and Sue Ramirez showed their support for ABS-CBN through a music video.
Co-produced by Hidalgo Portraits, the Star Magic artists were featured in the music video as an initiative of the management agency to support ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal.
The music video was inspired by Yeng Constantino’s “Hawak Kamay” and it featured different generations of Kapamilya artists.
Directed by Johnny Manahan, the music video will soon be released on the Star Magic YouTube Channel.
Meanwhile, director Joel Lamangan urged other ABS-CBN artists to show their support for the media network in the light of its possible closure.
“Wala akong masyadong trabaho dito, sa iba marami pero sa ganitong sitwasyon apektado tayo lahat dahil kalayaan natin ang nakasalalay dito!” Lamangan said during the premiere of his movie Di Tayo Pwede.
The director earlier aired his concern for the network’s 11,000 employees should its franchise renewal not be granted.
On Tuesday, March 10, the Committee on Legislative Franchise finally opened the deliberation on the 11 pending bills seeking to renew the ABS-CBN franchise.
During the hearing, Congress reiterated its request on the letter they sent to the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to issue the provisional permit to ABS-CBN so they can continue its operations past their franchise’s expiration.
And on the part of NTC, Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba agreed to grant ABS-CBN provisional authority allowing the network to continue operating beyond their franchise’s expiration.
