In response to President Rodrigo Duterte’s speech regarding COVID-19, comedian and talent manager Ogie Diaz is worried that flights from China are still on-going.
In line with this, Ogie hopes Duterte will reconsider the welfare of 16 Million people who supported him during the election.
Ogie said: “Wala bang travel ban from China to Manila? Pangulong Duterte, taumbayan naman muna bago po ang China. Kahit yung kaligtasan ng 16M na lang po na naniwala sa inyo ang isipin niyo.”

Moreover, during the conference for COVID-19, reporters were addressing major issues for the welfare of Filipinos, but then Ogie noticed interviewers received indirect and irrelevant responses from the President.
For instance, when the interviewer asked Duterte if there were specific directives to combat the COVID-19, Duterte recalled the Spanish flu during his younger years.
Duterte said: “I remember when I was young, there was this flu. Alam mo ang totoo niyan there’s a cleansing.”
This led Ogie to affirm that Filipinos can only rely on themselves and not to depend anymore on the government’s efforts since there are no direct responses from the President.

Like many other netizens who are deeply affected by the “community quarantine” declared by the President to avoid the spread of COVID-19, Ogie wishes that there would be tax holiday even just for three months since the economy has been affected.

Last Thursday night, March 12, Duterte ordered community quarantine within Metro Manila that will start from March 15, 2020 and run until April 14, 2020, to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country. During the conference, Duterte announced the suspension of classes until April 12, 2020, but emphasized that public transportation specifically LRT and MRT will still operate.
Despite the pandemic which originated from China, Duterte praised the latter for the comforting words and for the offer he received from President Xi Jinping’s willingness to help our fellow Filipinos.
Here’s what Duterte stated: “To the Chinese government, the people, especially to President Xi Jinping, thank you for the consoling words. You know President Xi Jinping for all of his goodness to us, wrote me a letter and said that he is willing to help. All we have to do is to ask.”
