- Netizens slammed President Rodrigo Duterte’s late speech.
President Rodrigo Duterte has again faced the nation to give his report on the government’s efforts in combating the COVID-19 crisis.
Under the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act or RA 11469, the President, on Monday of every week, must submit a weekly report to Congress on all acts performed pursuant to this Act during the immediately preceding week.
However, the supposed 4 pm speech was delayed and aired around 11 pm instead, causing netizens to call out the President and his staff’s sense of time.
Aside from slamming the President for being seven hours late to the original announcement of 4 pm public address, netizens also blasted Duterte for romanticizing the death of some medical frontliners.
“May mga doktor, nurses, attendants na namatay. Sila ang nasawi ang buhay para lang makatulong sa kapwa. Napakasuwerte nila, namatay sila para sa bayan. It would be an honor to die for your country,” said the President in his speech.

He kept us all waiting just for what? A taped message? And tangina, the very first he thanked on his list is China government? Next, oligarchs? He didn’t even recognize the hardwork and efforts of VP Leni. This man is just so inutile he should just RESIGN! #DuterteStandardTime

Celebrities who also waited for the 7-hour late public address have also shared their comments and sentiments about the President’s latest speech.
K Brosas could barely comment because of her frustration.
“Ayun na nga… napanood ko na at last.. I kenat… kaya gudnyt na Lang po.. be safe.. god bless us all”

Kapuso star Janine Gutierrez also waited for the speech and was frustrated that it didn’t answer the people’s questions about concrete plans and how the government is performing in terms of beating COVID-19.
“Hay. Nakakalungkot. Kung essay yun sa exam, hindi papasa. Wala naman yatang nasagot sa mga tanong ng bayan. I appreciate the visibility but that means nothing without transparency. Anong plano? Hindi naman pwedeng tiwala lang.”

Rodrigo Duterte thanks China, businessmen, everyone – except Vice President Leni Robredo – for their help vs #coronavirus.

WE WAITED 7HRS FOR THAT? HOW CAN DUTERTE CONTINUOUSLY DISAPPOINT US AND UNDERPERFORM?
If you were satisfied with his speech, then I pity you for looking at our country AND YOURSELF with very little value. How can you believe that what he’s giving us is what we deserve. Pathetic

Remember, Mr. President, that there are people who have to waste precious time just so they can broadcast your speech to the public. We just hope that your speech has depth and substance worthy for keeping up with Duterte Standard Time. #TanongNgTaongBayan

Give statistical reports, reports on the usage of emergency powers, reports of the crisis right now, not you spewing out hot garbage and your traditional bullshit
You're a President, not a fucking motivational speaker #OustDuterte2020 #DuterteStandardTime

Anyone else feel more scared after watching Duterte tonight? Five hours hinintay for just sweeping statements and emotional pleas? Walang concrete actions. Felt more like a sermon than a report. Pilipinas, we are so fucked. #DuterteStandardTime #COVID19PH
