ABS-CBN has temporarily stopped work on shows and movies due to the enhanced community quarantine but the giant network has decided to compensate everyone including the artists, workers, production staff, and other crews during this hiatus.
The Professional Artist Managers, Inc (PAMI) expressed gratitude for the network and its efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 while making sure that people have a way to make ends meet.
“ABS-CBN gave us, Managers, and all our Artists, the needed reassurance that, beyond ratings and revenues, the health and safety of all their Kapamilyas will always be their paramount concern. Furthermore, we appreciate, their kindest and most generous consideration to continue compensating the cast and crew of ongoing productions during the suspension period without the need for request or demand.” – PAMI
In line with this, labor group Defend Jobs Philippines urged private companies to follow the ABS-CBN’s lead in compensating employees during the state of calamity in the Philippines.
They also suggest the employers be more compassionate and show concern as employees will return the favor by working full throttle as soon as things return to normal.
The group commended the Kapamilya network over its policy to still provide salaries for their workforce despite having no work as part of their preventive measures to stop the spread of coronavirus amongst their artists, talents, workers, their families, and their viewers.
