- Rita Avila defended Panelo for a “misunderstood” statement.
Celebrities K Brosas and Rita Avila shared different views on Malacanang Spokesman Salvador Panelo’s latest insensitive remarks. Panelo had said of the imposed community quarantine, “Walang namamatay sa gutom. Ang isang buwan, hindi ka pa mamamatay.”
Such a statement sounded dismissive of what citizens might be worried about during the month-long lockdown.
On Twitter, Brosas wasn’t able to verbalize her feeling about the statement, she just tweeted “I…. kenat… brxvcghjssisiwjbwsbsjsjkshutanginamezbes..”

“Anong gusto nila, huwag silang i-check o ‘wag silang makapasok? Sige nga,” Panelo had said in an interview over Radyo Inquirer.
“Ang mahalaga intindihin mo na ikaw ay maaring carrier at ang sarili mo ang nasa (bingit ng) kamatayan at pati ‘yung lalapitan mo,” he added.
Meanwhile, many netizens also shared Brosas’ sentiments, slamming Panelo for the distasteful remarks amidst the serious threat of COVID-19 not only on people’s health but also their livelihood.
On Sunday, Malacañang launched the “No Food for One Month Challenge.” Ang unang susubok ay sina Salvador Panelo, Rodrigo Duterte at Bong Go. Ordinary Filipinos may upload their own videos only after those three have completed the challenge. pic.twitter.com/ktD2aRuvTe

In the photo shared by Avila, Panelo was also quoted saying the gov’t has already prepared food packs for those who will be affected by the Metro Manila community quarantine.
She also added another post saying humans can really live without food for one month provided they are properly hydrated.
