- Jin Macapagal unfriended people who are making fun of the franchise renewal issue of ABS-CBN
- The dancer-model is thankful for ABS-CBN which he considers his home
- The franchise renewal case of the media conglomerate is still pending in the House of Congress
For Jin Macapagal, the best way to get rid of ill-minded people is to ‘unfriend’ them—not in real life, but on social media.
Many Kapamilya and Kapuso celebrities have already expressed their support for ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal, which until now is pending in the House of Congress.
Adding to the list is It’s Showtime Ultimate BidaMan winner Jin Macapagal who considers the media network his “home.”
In an interview, the 24-year old expressed his deep support for ABS-CBN as he believes that “truth and justice will prevail.”
“Siyempre we stand with ABS, kasi parang home din namin yun. And then, we believe naman na, kung ano talaga yung totoo, It will prevail. Truth and Justice will prevail,” he said during the grand launch of the film Us Again, which he is also a part of.
But there are still bashers who have been insisting ABS-CBN does not deserve a franchise renewal for violating some laws despite having been proven other in the Senate. For Jin, he has decided to ‘unfriend’ the people who badmouth or even make fun of the issue of ABS-CBN.
He stated, “Nakakalungkot, kasi marami akong nakikitang supporta, dahil sobrang laking bagay eh. Pero naano lang ako nakikita ko yung mga kakilala ko na ginagawa pang biro yung ganun, shempre sensitive yun eh. Maraming mawawalan ng trabaho, yung buhay nila parang nandun na kase. Parang hindi siya funny na biro.”
“May nakikita akong ano, kasi di ba nag post yung ABS na ‘We did not violate any laws’. Tapos wala namang violet dun sa kulay, mga ganun,” he added pertaining to one post where a netizen sarcastically commented that there’s no violet color in the logo of ABS-CBN.
According to the model-dancer, these instances serve as an eye-opener for him as it helps him distinguish who is truly humane and who are ill-minded.
As for his career, just like Ivana Alawi, Kathryn Bernardo, Alex Gonzaga, and other celebrities, Jin has plans of entering the world of video blogging.
“So yun ginagawa ko, trinatry ko gumawa ng YouTube, trinatry ko pa lang, pero sana naman maging okay lang,” he stated.
For weeks now, ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal has topped several headlines and became a national controversy.
With 11 franchise bills seeking to grant the media conglomerate another 25 years to operate, not even one of these has been tackled in the House as of this writing.
On February 24, The Senate presided by Senator Grace Poe, opened an inquiry into the ABS-CBN franchise. The embattling network has given the chance to answer allegations. Apart from this, ABS-CBN President and Chief Executive Officer Carlo Katigbak apologized to President Rodrigo Duterte for failing to air his presidential campaign ads back in 2016, which led to threats coming from the President to not renew the franchise.
Unexpectedly, the President accepted Katigbak’s apology. However, he made it clear that he would not interfere and will leave the decision to Congress to renew or not renew ABS-CBN’s franchise that is set to expire by the end of March.
