- Her daughter confessed to him that she was interested in girls
- He wanted his daughter to be true to herself.
When Ian Veneracion’s only daughter Dids came out as a lesbian, he fully supported her.
On Wednesday, March 4, in an interview with Magandang Buhay, Veneracion together with his daughter recalled the moment when Dids confessed to him that she was interested in girls. She was 16 years old at the time.
Sabi niya, ‘Daddy, I have to tell you something.’ Sabi ko, ‘What? Sit down.’ Sabi niya, ‘I like girls.’ Tapos sabi ko sa kanya, ‘Me also I like girls.’ So parang nagtataka siya, sabi niya, ‘It’s okay?’ Sabi ko, ‘Yes. Just don’t be ever apologetic about it, not even to me.’ Sabi ko, ‘You can be whoever you want to be and I have full support,'” Veneracion said.
He had noticed his daughter acting masculine at a young age.
“Natawa siya. Sabi niya, ‘You know?’ So alam ko na dati,” he added.
Veneracion doesn’t want his daughter to live a life feeling apologetical because of her sexuality. He wanted his daughter to be true to herself.
Parang what a waste of life.”
His wife also supports their daughter’s sexuality because she also wants her daughter to be happy for who she is.
So she has the full support of the whole family,” he added.
