A lot of netizens seem to be questioning the appointment of the newest ambassador of the National Youth Commission (NYC) Matteo Guidicelli.
A netizen named Bryan Gonzales, a human rights advocate and writer, can’t help but express his disbelief about Matteo’s appointment.
On his Twitter account, Gonzales retweeted and commented on an ABS-CBN news item detailing Matteo receiving a Certificate of Designation.
“As someone who has been involved in youth initiatives these past few years, collaborating with the NYC since 2016, I have never seen this guy attending any of our projects or expressing interest in them. I know of no instance where he spoke out on youth issues that really matter.”

Other netizens agreed qith Gonzales’ tweet and said that others deserve more recognition.
There are a lot of Filipino Youth who deserves this. Sila yong mga walang pamasahe, walang budget pero sila yong tutoong naka tulong sa mga kabataan.

Matteo has explicitly showed his disgust towards activism. He has recognition from fascist state elements. He also became AFP's poster boy.
Yes, he has contributions but not to the youth. https://t.co/hktNRPbZmO

On the other hand, Guidicelli feels honored to be officially appointed as the newest ambassador to the National Youth Commission.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News’ MJ Felipe, Guidicelli said it was a privilege to be named ambassador of NYC, saying he’s only doing what he thinks is good for the country.
“Actually we’ve been very active since last year when I joined the Philippine Army reserve with a lot of projects. It really correlates, it connects with the NYC and how we can support the youth to strengthen our country,” he said.
Guidicelli said it was important to make the youth understand the importance of cohesion in national building, with his goal to empower the younger generation.
“Because if we are just doing our own thing and not caring and just saying bahala na, nothing is going to happen.”

“I think what’s very important is strengthening the unity talaga of the kids, to empower their country more, to be one with the country, to develop the country,” he said.
