Kapamilya star Gerald Anderson is now openly supporting the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN.
Anderson was one of the hundreds of employees and talents of the Kapamilya network who joined the Kapamilya rally in front of the ABS-CBN compound last Friday.
In a live interview with Jeff Canoy on TV Patrol, the A Soldier’s Heart star said ABS-CBN has become the bridge of Filipinos abroad to their families in the the Philippines. And with that effect, ABS-CBN should continue its service to all the Filipinos worldwide.
“That’s [ABS-CBN] something that we have to protect,” he said.
“Itong challenge na dumating sa ABS, sama-sama natin lalagpasan ito,” he added.
Prior to his latest statement, Gerald wasn’t too vocal about his support for the Kapamilya network’s franchise renewal.
In his previous interview, Gerald was asked his take about the network’s franchise renewal and President Rodrigo Duterte’s constant threats about it.
“Above my pay grade, wala na ako say ‘don pero sana maging maayos. Respetuhin natin kung ano maging decision niya but, siyempre at the end of the day sana may trabaho pa rin lahat na nasa ABS. At the end of the day, siya pa rin ang Presidente natin, respetuhin natin kung ano man ‘yon,” Gerald answered.
ABS-CBN has continued its weekly gatherings and prayer rallies along the perimeter of the compound to continuously ask Congress to act on their franchise renewal.
The network’s franchise is set to expire on May 4, 2020 but the 11 franchise renewal bills in Congress are still pending at the Committee on Legislative Franchises.
