Kapamilya star Aljur Abrenica was asked about his take on the current franchise woes facing ABS-CBN.
The Sandugo star was one of the few Kapamilya celebrities who remained mum on the issue. He has said he doesn’t have the whole picture so he’d rather not comment.
While many others are openly showing their support, he said he respect them for their own opinions.
“It’s beyond us eh. Ako as individual hindi ko sya totally nagagrasp kung ano yung problema dahil hindi ko alam yung batas [nang] kabuuan. Ako wala akong kaso sa mga artists na nagsasabi na malaki yung utang na loob nila, even my father in law, they have their own opinions at meron silang pinaglalaban bawat isa,” said Aljur
Meanwhile asked about his reaction to his father-in-law Robin Padilla’s stand against the Kapamilya network, Aljur lauded his father-in-law for his courage to speak up.
Aljur said it’s very rare for celebrities to be outspoken with their stand on matters contrary to other’s belief.
“My father in law I admire him. it’s not every day we meet someone like him na malakas yung loob. hindi lahat ng tao kayang sabihin yun,” he answered.
“Si papa nagbukas nang ano eh, nagbukas sya nang oportunidad eh na malaman yung mga hindi natin nakikita di ba?
“Kumbaga I perceive it as an improvement. Diba kung walang opposition hindi magbabago ang isang bagay eh, hindi magiimprove ang isang bagay. So I really admire him and I perceive it as the longer, sa mga mas mahabang panahon pa why not diba? May magiimprove at magiimprove when it comes to network, when it comes to labor, sa bawat indibidwal sa’ten, we’ll get better and justified na tama para sa bawat isa,” he added
Meanwhile, asked if he think Robin’s rift with ABS-CBN will be fixed, Aljur said he’s hoping and he knows it will get better in time. What’s important is that the voiceless were given a voice and their cause is being fought for.
“Oo naman. Alam mo dun naman tayo pupunta eh. Meron lang tayong pinaglalaban pero ang importante nabibigyan ng boses yung bawat tao na nagsasalita para sa walang boses. Napakaimportante nun at san at san pa maayos din ang lahat,” he said.
Robin, a known die-hard Duterte supporter, has been very critical with ABS-CBN, especially on its franchise renewal issue.
Although he already said that he’s not against the renewal, the bad boy of Philippine cinema continues to be vocal with his criticism on the network’s labor practices to the point of lambasting celebrities who are openly supporting ABS-CBN.
At one point, Padilla was criticized by netizens for his strong stand against ABS-CBN who gave him a second chance and where his wife Mariel, son-in-law Aljur, brother Rommel, and nephew Daniel Padilla are all contract stars of the media giant.
