February 7th, 2020 – Singapore – Red Bull Records is thrilled to announce the latest addition to their growing roster in up-and-coming artist, Sad Alex. After signing to Red Bull Songs in 2018, the rising singer, songwriter, producer, artist, illustrator and dancer now brings her unique, multi-faceted flair to Red Bull Records’ diverse and innovative lineup.
“We’re thrilled to be working with Sad Alex and helping to push her career forward in 2020 and beyond,” says Managing Director of Red Bull Records, Greg Hammer. “Sad Alex brings a fully realized artistic vision to her work, adding an exciting new voice to the Red Bull Records family. We look forward to seeing her growth and providing her with the resources to reach new audiences on a global scale.”
Releasing a slew of independent singles and a raw, stream-of-consciousness-inspired EP, ‘songs that you’ll probably never hear’ in 2019, Sad Alex crafts each record with her own blend of tongue-in-cheek humor and brutal honesty, creating songs about love, heartbreak and every emotion in between. Previously writing for Kelly Rowland and lending her vocals to producer Vincent’s single “Here For You”, which has amassed over 1.4 million Spotify streams to date – in addition to a feature on fellow Red Bull Records’ artist Flawes’ debut album, ‘Highlights’ – this year Sad Alex steps into the spotlight, honing her sound and channeling her quirky personality into music that is complex, relatable and wholly her own.
“Signing a deal was obviously massive for me. I mean, I started drawing my own artwork because I couldn’t afford to have someone else do it,” says Sad Alex. “I met the team at Red Bull Records and we just clicked. I’m super lucky to have the team behind me supporting the vision and I’m loving the process so much. Can’t wait to show the world everything we’re working on!”
Today, Sad Alex unveils “All The Way Over,” her first single to be released on Red Bull Records. A resonating blend of electro-pop infused with crushing synths, echoing bass and melodic vocals, “All The Way Over” introduces audiences to Sad Alex’s signature sound through a multi-layered study of love, loss and the games people play. Reflecting on the struggle of a relationship coming to a close and the fear of what comes after “game over,” Sad Alex’s latest single is an introspective look at closure and what it means to finally start anew.
“Sometimes the worst thing about being heartbroken is when you aren’t anymore,” says Sad Alex of the inspiration behind the release. “It’s better to cry, drink and overshare than to admit it’s over, right? It definitely feels safer, but then time passes, and you start to forget about what came before. I’m moving on, does that mean you’re moving on too?”
