- His controversial statements earned backlash from netizens
Action star Robin Padilla continued to attack celebrities who showed their support for ABS-CBN’s franchise renewed.
In his latest post, the 50-year-old actor called out celebrities to reveal his bankbook to the public.
Prior to this, Padilla previously called out Kapamilya celebrities and other stars who openly showed ABS-CBN their support.
In a Facebook post, “the bad boy” of Philippine cinema challenged ABS-CBN and GMA stars to expose their network contracts to the public so that everybody will know just how unfair it is for the off-cam workers.
Tama ba sa sustansya?” he added.
Dingdong Dantes, Angel Locsin, and Coco Martin are just a few of the celebrities who showed their support for ABS-CBN by posting on their social media accounts. These artists were also worried about the 11 thousand people who will become jobless if ever the giant network closes.

Angel Locsin best said it, “think before you click”. You cannot post something then blame it on being the ex-convict in you that overtook your emotions Mr.Robin Padilla. Its either pinanindigan mo misplaced emotions mo or never post at all. Ganun lang yun.

If I were Robin Padilla, I will not accept nor sign a contract if I don’t agree with Management’s malpractices.
But he signed a lot of projects with Abs , and by seeing those unfair treatment – he should’ve act and use his voice to correct what is wrong. https://t.co/vlLK07pMQu

You make sense Robin Padilla but you can kiss and you and your wife’s career at ABS-CBN goodbye. You DO NOT bite the hand that feeds you! pic.twitter.com/ZHJKGbjieM

I'm sorry but DJ ChaCha has pussy. Not balls. Pussies can take a pounding. You can't pound on balls without its owner collapsing to the ground 🤷🏻♀️ Example of people with balls: Robin Padilla

Aside from fellow celebrities, Padilla also attacked Martin and told people about the FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano star allegedly splashed water on his co-workers in 2018.
However, after his tirade, the actor apologized and said he got too emotional and he could have said it in a spiritual way.
“As a gift to my wife this Valentines Day, I apologize to all her family and friends in ABS-CBN, ganon din sa GMA at TV5, patawarin niyo ako the ex-convict in me overtook my emotions, inaamin ko ang aking pagiging mapusok. I could have said my piece in a spiritual way. Let’s give the profit of our labor to our employers but our voices to the laborers,” he stated.
Netizens wondered why Padilla was only speaking up about the issues now when he supposedly has known it had been going on for years. They can’t help but think that Padilla is just “nagpapasikat” (craving for attention) because he will run as a candidate in the upcoming election.
However, Padilla negated this claim and said: “ako po ay retired na at wala po akong plano tumakbo tumanggi nga po ako nong last election para lang po ito sa abscbn at sa maliliit na tao 25 years is already enough to know the grievances of other people.
Padilla also denied he wanted the network to be shut down.
Meanwhile, the office of Solicitor General Jose Calida has asked the Supreme Court to issue a gag order in order to stop ABS-CBN and its representatives from discussing the quo warranto petition he filed on February 10 to void its current franchise.
On February 18, Tuesday, Calida filed a “very urgent motion” asking the Supreme Court to issue the order that bans “parties and persons acting on their behalf” from releasing statements discussing the quo warranto case which he filed against the network. He said this violates the sub judice rule, which prohibits anyone from releasing a statement that could influence the outcome of a court matter.
According to President Rodrigo Duterte’s spokesperson and chief legal counsel Salvador Panelo, even celebrities would be prohibited from releasing statements about the pending franchise bill of ABS-CBN, should the high court grants the Solicitor General’s plea.
