DZMM news anchor Ricky Rosales took to social media to explain the real meaning of media bias.
With all the issues and controversies surrounding ABS-CBN and other media critical of the government, one of the most used phrases by their critics is “biased-media”.
Most of the people supportive of Duterte and his government accused ABS-CBN of being biased in their reporting and thus should be shut down.
But for Rosales who also teaches journalism, bias is something natural and innate to every people.

According to him, it is inherent in humans thus there is this call theory of selectivity in media studies.
Kailangan ito,” he wrote.
The Kapamilya anchor added that being biased is not the creation of media, but a conjugation of media and its audience, since they are the consumer of news.
He said is media are biased, the people who consumed the news are also definitely biased towards their own perspective.

In the end, Rosales said he’s proud to say that he is biased. And that his biases lean towards the poor, the voiceless and to ABS-CBN who gave him the platform to showcase his biases.
“Bias ba ako? OPO! At proud ako!
Rosales is one of the many vocal Kapamilya anchors supporting its franchise renewal.
ABS-CBN’s franchise is set to expire on March 30, 2020.
Until now the House Committee on Legislative Franchises has yet to schedule the deliberation on the 11 pending bills seeking renewal of the Kapamilya network.
Currently, the Congress and the Senate have filed separate joint resolutions extending ABS-CBN’s franchise until 2022. Those resolutions will be ABS-CBN’s legal basis to continue with its operations.
