Kapamilya actor Paulo Avelino has been cast as the lead actor in the film remake of the Pinoy classic Darna.
He is the second actor who has been confirmed as part of the cast of the much-awaited Star Cinema movie.
He will star opposite Jane de Leon, who bested over hundreds of hopefuls for the titular role. Jane will take on the role of the iconic superheroine previously portrayed by actresses like Regine Velasquez, Angel Locsin, and Marian Rivera.
Jane replaced Angel and Make It With You star Liza Soberano as Darna after they suffered from physical injuries.
Jerrold Tarog is helming the project which reportedly has begun its shooting this year.
This is Paulo’s third time to work with the director after Heneral Luna and Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral.
It was rumored that the role of ‘Darna’s’ nemesis, Valentina, was allegedly offered to a popular ‘bida/kontrabida’ Kapamilya actress but she reportedly turned down the offer.
Meanwhile, other celebrities rumored to be considered for the role of ‘Valentina’ are Ivana Alawi and even Pia Wurtzbach.
