“Parasite,” the South Korean movie that won a historic Oscar Awards haul this year, is hitting the streaming service Viu on SKY starting February 15.
Directed by Bong Joon-Ho, the film that has become a critical success is also this year’s biggest Oscar winner, earning the Best Original Screenplay, Best International Feature Film, Best Director, and Best Picture awards. It premiered at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival last May 2019 and won for Korea its very first Palme d’Or award. It successfully captured Hollywood success, earning praise and awards including the Best Foreign Language Film at the 77th Golden Globe Awards, Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, and Best Film Not in the English Language and Best Original Screenplay at the 73rd British Academy Film Awards, the British equivalent of the Oscar awards.
The genre-bending film that currently enjoys a 99% “certified fresh” rating and a 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes brings the story of Ki-taek (Kang-Ho Song) and his family and their strange interest in integrating themselves into the lives of the wealthy Parks. As they successfully gain access to the family’s home, things get more complicated—and deadly.
Aside from “Parasite,” SKY subscribers can also watch the Dr. Romantic 2, a sequel to the 2017 series of the same name. In the sequel, Han Suk-kyu reprised his role, Bong Yong-Joo, a famous surgeon who calls himself Dr. Romantic. He comes to Geodae Hospital to recruit Seo Woo-jin (Ahn Hyo-seop), a doctor with a troubled past who is ostracized by his fellow doctors, and offers him the job.
