Netizen and Kaya Natin! Movement convenor Harvey Keh reminded House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano how they were able to build their political dynasty.
In a tweet on Tuesday, February 25, which coincided with the celebration of the 34th anniversary of People Power, Keh said Cayetano would not have been a political name if not for ABS-CBN.
“You know whats really sad? Pag hindi dahil sa ABS-CBN wala sanang Cayetano ang nasa Senado o Kongreso ngayon. It was ABS-CBN who introduced Alan Peter’s dad, Companero Rene Cayetano to the nation by giving him a show in the 90s. Ngayon, ito igaganti ni Cayetano sa kanila,” tweeted Keh.

In the early ‘90s, ABS-CBN gave Cayetano’s father, the late Senator Rene Cayetano, a platform to reach wider audience, giving him an advantage on the country’s personality politics.
DZMM’s Companero y Companera segment in Gel Santos’ Relos Reports radio program paved the way for Rene Cayetano’s media popularity. It then gave birth to the ABS-CBN legal talk show Companero y Companera in 1997 which became a larger springboard of the Cayetano clan into the world of politics.
Aside from the late Rene Cayetano, the Cayetano siblings also benefitted from the guestings on ABS-CBN shows prior to their election campaign.
This is why people are wondering about the reason House Speaker Cayetano has so much gripes against the network that help built their political empire.
Netizens even called him a traitor for being too obsessed with his personal grievances with the media giant.
I am really disappointed on this person because I love the humbleness of the late Sen. Rene Cayetano and I knew him as Companero. And please, let us not forget that his brother, Mayor Lito Cayetano, is a former director in ABS-CBN. The nerve to even say “sipsip”. Back to you po!

Yung kapatid mong si Lino na Mayor na ngayon ng Taguig, dating director ng mga teleserye ng ABS-CBN.
Can anyone honestly say na hindi nakatulong ang ABS-CBN sa kanya?

However, this is not the first time that Cayetano was accused of being ungrateful.
In 2006, former First Gentleman Mike Arroyo also called Cayetano as an ingrate.
“I really cannot understand why they were so ungrateful, when they came to me, I helped them. Why is he doing this to us? Is it because of his political agenda?” Arroyo asked.
“Not only is he so ungrateful, he lies, he manufactures evidence.. I’m so surprised with this boy,” he said.
Arroyo was talking about the campaign funds he donated to Cayetano’s campaign in 2004.
Cayetano was a former ally of the Arroyos during his first congressional term in Taguig.
Their relationship soured when after the Hello Garci scandal. Since then Cayetano became an opposition lawmaker who often criticized President Gloria Arroyo.
