Promising singer-songwriter Lian Kyla is ready to step into the spotlight with the upcoming release of “Why” music video, which was entirely shot in South Korea by a Korean director and production team.
A new single produced under Star Music, “Why” is a piano-based ballad complementing Lian Kyla’s angelic voice. The song and its music video, about helping friends move on from a heartbreak, sends out a reminder that a failed relationship does not diminish one’s worth.
“The little girl in the MV is supposed to represent my old/younger self—or a friend rather, supposed to represent the younger version of a friend—and how I’m offering comfort and support through the song,” Lian Kyla said.
The video is directed by Jung Min Kim with post production in the Philippines by Key Elements Creative Media.
Lian Kyla took inspiration from her own personal experience to come up with the song lyrics, while her fellow singer-composer, Trisha Denise, created the melody.
The young musician started gaining attention from the remarkable song covers that she posted on her YouTube channel. Prior to this, she took voice lessons at the University of the Philippines, where she was also a part of her college’s chorale. Many might recognize her voice from the stripped-down version of the song “Stay,” originally sung by Carol Banawa, which frequently played during “PBB Otso’s” romantic moments.
She is now part of the talented artists of ABS-CBN Music—home to many of the best OPM music of today from the country’s leading media and entertainment company, ABS-CBN.
Stream Lian Kyla’s “Why” on all digital music platforms and watch out for the release of its music video this Monday (February 10) on ABS-CBN Star Music’s YouTube channel. For updates, like Star Music on Facebook at facebook.com/starmusicph, and follow it on Twitter and Instagram (@StarMusicPH).
