Asia’s Nightingale and New Siren of the Strip Lani Misalucha commented about Morissette Amon failing to hit the high notes in ASAP Natin ‘To!
Lani indirectly defended Amon and stated that singers are just humans, and she hopes that people would understand that they cannot be perfect and flawless each time they are on stage. She also compared singers to an engineering machine that her husband used to fix at work,
Lani said: “I just want to tell everyone we are humans, we cannot be perfect all the time we cannot be perfect each time that we perform. Even the machine nagkakaroon sila ng flaws, my husband is an engineer and he used to work [at a] chip manufacturing company, yung makina na binabantayan niya is so precise, pumapalya pa rin ung machine na ‘yon and then he will fix it, what more sa amin na tao na we can’t rely on ourselves each time na sasampa kami diyan na flawless na kami, not unless you are Lea Salonga.
“Tao lang kami na nagkakamali, it’s just that nabo-blown out of proportion only because na mumultiply ng multiply sa social media.”
Lani also recalled the moment she failed to hit the high notes before, but she managed to tweak her singing so as not to disrupt her performance.
“Meron time na di ko naabot ung note, it’s either pagod na pagod ako or ung previous night may kinantahan so hindi ganun kayos ung boses ko. Napiyok ako, so ginagawa ko pag napiyok ko to, pipiyukin ko na ung the rest.”
Meanwhile, Artist Director Ryan Cayabyab shared what he does with the team whenever a singer fails to hit the high notes. According to him, as much as possible, they try to ignore the incident with high hopes to continue the show.
Cayabyab shared: “Pinagtatawanan namin kasi para magaan lang, ‘di naman pwede ibalik ung nangyari we just take it lightly. However, sometimes pinipilit naming hindi pansinin, gusto naming idirecho ung show ng walang feeling nagkamali.”
Morisette Amon went viral when she sang “Sometime, Somewhere” in ASAP Natin ‘To last January 2020.
During her Cebu homecoming concert way back in 2018, she also failed to hit the whistle part while singing Regine’s “Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka,” but then she was able to handle like a queen and teased the audience as she said it was live.
