Another Kapuso star has expressed support for rival network ABS-CBN in relation to its franchise renewal.
Talking to LionhearTV, actress Kris Bernal said the presence of another network will bring out the best in each celebrity that will hopefully benefit the audience they aim to serve.
May pressure, may challenge, at saka may pag-uusapan,” the actress said.
“Doon nagkakaroon ng excitement when you’re competing with another network, with another person. Diyan dumarating iyong challenge bilang artista rin… So nakakadagdag din sa amin iyon to be a better actor or actress,” she added.
The Hanggang sa Dulo ng Buhay Ko star also expressed worry over ABS-CBN employees who might lose their jobs if the network closes.
Iyong mga taong nagtra-trabaho, iyon lang iyong source of living nila, source of income,” Kris said.
“So, ako pagdating talaga sa tao… people person kasi ako eh. So, sana hindi matuloy iyong shut down,” she added.

The actress also revealed that she’s looking forward to working with Kapamilya actors. Specifically, she said she wants to work with Kapamilya actor Jericho Rosales if given a chance.
Gusto ko love story (gawin namin),” she added.
Earlier, some Kapuso celebrities like Dingdong Dantes, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Eugene Domingo, and Aiko Melendez expressed their support to Kapamilya network, which is facing possible closure due to its franchise renewal problem.
Several GMA News personalities like Atom Araullo and JP Soriano have also backed their fellow journalists in ABS-CBN.
There are at least 11 pending bills seeking franchise renewal for ABS-CBN.
However, the House of Representatives has yet to act on them.
However, he assured that the network won’t be shut down even if its franchise expires on March 30.
President Rodrigo Duterte has been issuing threats not to renew the franchise of ABS-CBN since 2017 following accusations that the network did not air his political advertisements during the 2016 presidential campaign.
But Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo has always distanced the President from the franchise woes of ABS-CBN.
He said Duterte does not care about the renewal of the license of the Lopez-led network.
