In the midst of the shutdown threat against ABS-CBN, actor JM de Guzman expressed his gratitude to the media giant for helping him recover from drug addiction.
JM De Guzman, who has spoken freely about his drug abuse problems in the past, said that both ABS-CBN and the government gave him a chance to reform his old ways.
In his Instagram post, he proudly posted a short clip from an Aksyon news report about the actor’s intense shadowboxing video, and a number of diary-like Instagram posts he’s made in the past.
“Lost my sanity bec. of drugs. ABS CBN gave me hope. The government helped me to change.
chances. abs cbn gave me a chance to start a new life.”
The Pamilya Ko star went to rehabilitate twice and has recovered from his substance abuse problem.
He graduated from the Self Enhancement for Life Foundation Rehabilitation Program in Talisay, Batangas, back in 2018.
The actor also noted that, like him, anyone could change and recover from bad choices in life.
“Now I’m here with the chance given to prove that we can all make bad choices, and..we can change.”
ABS-CBN, meanwhile, is reportedly under threat of closure after Solicitor General Jose Calida filed a quo warranto petition with the Supreme Court, accusing the media company of “highly abusive activities” and potentially violating the terms of its franchise.
