The Philippine adaptation of Korea’s Descendants of the Sun will finally air on February 10, 2020 on GMA Telebabad.
During the press conference for the show, Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes, who will play the role of Captain Lucas Manalo, expressed that they aren’t aiming to beat the original but to do the best retelling of the story they can.
So, what we have is just to do the best to retell the story. That’s what we’re doing.”
The Primetime King also revealed that they managed to implement some tweaks on the show to make it more relatable to the Filipino viewers.
To add up the Filipino culture, the Descendants of the Sun remake will tackle family struggles and issues.
Meanwhile, Jennylyn Mercado confessed that she feels pressured to portray the role of Dr. Maxine during the press conference.
“Siyempre may konting kaba.

Dingdong on working with Jennylyn
Dingdong described Jennylyn as a woman full of surprises and that there were days hat Jennylyn managed to surprise them with some acting tricks.
He continued: “May isang take, tapos ginawa niya ‘yung sa original, kung papaano ‘yung ginawa nung original. Nung pangalawang take, mayroon siyang ibang ginawa. So nagulat kami, parang wow!”
Dingdong claims that Jennylyn’s surprises help their remake show a Pinoy flavor in it.
“These things we appreciate kasi dun nga lumalabas ‘yung tinatawag na Pinoy flavor. In her case, she gave it a Jennylyn flavor which I think is very very much appropriate.”
