- The actress reasoned that she planned to take a showbiz hiatus
- She now stars in the new series Love of My Life
It has been almost one year now since veteran actress Coney Reyes appeared on television.
She had her last series,Victor Magtanggol, in 2018 led by Asia’s Multimedia Star Alden Richards.
Coney admitted that she chose to turn down some projects to take a rest from showbiz.
“Actually, ‘yun nga, e, may mga offers talaga na natatanggihan ko kasi parang hindi pa ako ready,” Coney told the media in a press conference of Love Of My Life last January 28.
So, I’m very happy kasi, actually, both networks have been very kind to me. Both networks have been good to me, offering really, really good roles. At my age, I’m getting these [projects].”
She further narrated,“Minsan nga I have been turning down more than I have been accepting especially with the movies.
I want to enjoy what I’m doing. Ayaw ko nang parang ngaragngaragan, ‘di ba?”

Aside from avoiding burnout, the actress is also worried that her acting would be compromised should she take too many projects at the same time.
Or before, noong araw, I want to prioritize my children and my love life,” she jokingly said.
”Yung may daily show ‘tapos aarte ka pa sa [movies]. Ngayon, mainly because of time. I want to rest. Ayaw ko ‘yung every day na [trabaho].”
Coney is now making her TV comeback through the GMA Telebabad drama series Love Of My Life, along with Kapuso stars Carla Abellana, Tom Rodriguez, Mikael Daez, and Rhian Ramos.
The actress said that this project came to her at the right time. “It came at a time when I was ready to go back to work.”
“I was receiving offers kasi from both networks. Kasi, noong time like noong kampanya, ayaw kong mag-work. ‘Tapos sabi ko after oath-taking na, after ganito, after ganun. I just wanted to rest talaga,” she narrated pertaining to the mayoral campaign of son Vico Sotto who won in 2019.
“So, after noong naka-rest na ako, I was praying, ‘Okay, Lord, if I have offers from both networks, kung sino ang mauna kung puwede na ako mag-work, yun ang gusto ko.’ Biglang ito, at saka siguro the Lord wanted me to celebrate the 70 years with them.”
The actress said she was happy to work with new actors in the series.
“It’s always exciting working with a new team, with a new group. Siyempre, di ba, we’re trying to get to know each other.
Coney will play Isabella Gonzales in the series. Directed by Don Michael Perez, Love Of My Life premiered on February 3, Monday on GMA Network.
