Remember GMA Network’s 2011 reality talent search Protege Season 1 runner-up from Tagum Davao Del Norte, Lovely Embuscado?
Lovely was dubbed as The Singing Cinderella. She was one of the three selected auditionees from Davao City. The Queen of Soul, Jaya, her mentor was amazed by her voice and trusted in her capabilities to be a good singer.
“I was concentrating on sino ang makikita ko sa Davao. Hindi ko ini-expect na makikita ko si Lovely, magiging emotional ako.
“Alam ko na Hindi iyon ang hinahanap ng karamihan kapag nanonood sila a TV. E, gusto ko siya e,” Jaya shared during her interview in 2011.
Her journey in reality search talent was not easy. During the Top-6 selection, Lovely was eliminated, good that there was a wildcard, and she was given a second chance.
“Noong natanggal siya, creepy iyon sa akin. Parang ‘Mali, mali ito. Ito ba yung tinatawag nilang test?’ Naging test nga kasi biglang nag-wildcard. So I was very thankful na nagkaroon ng wild card. Ang masasabi ko lang is this is all of God’s plan. When she came into my life, hindi lang siya ang nagawang mag-shine. She also made me shine. We’re very lucky. We’re meant to be together. I’ll always make sure na mapo-protektahan si Lovely. Of course, I’m rooting for my girl. She’s my girl!” Jaya shared.
Aside from Lovely’s career blossomed during the Protege house, for the first time she met her biological father. A surprise gift is given to her by the Kapuso show on her 14th birthday.
After the talent search, she signed a contract with GMA Artist Center, the talent agency of the Kapuso network. She appeared in several TV shows such as Party Pilipinas, Magpakailanman, and The Half Sisters.
January 30, the brightness of her star, faded. While the Cabinet Files were on their way to the Descendants of the Sun press conference, they saw Lovely living on the streets of Quezon City together with her mother and stepfather.

Daisy, Lovely’s mother confirmed that they are homeless for more than a week now and is begging for food outside the church to survive.
When asked, what has happened, Daisy tearfully explained that they were full of debts and earnings were used in settling payments.
“Kasi po, nabaon ako sa utang, e, yung income po dati ni Lovely, tama lang po na pambayad sa utang.
“Ang The Half Sisters po ang last teleserye niya,” she emotionally shared.
Lovely is suffering from depression. She stares blankly and talks like a child.
“Ako din po, parang na-depress ako, pero kinaya ko po kasi wala nang ibang maaasahan kung hindi ko po kakayanin. Dati po, nakatira kami sa bahay ng kapatid ng asawa ko, sa Baseco. Hinihiling ko po kay God na Panginoon, alisin Mo na nga kami dito. Nakakatakot po doon, laging may riot,” Daisy said.

When the news circulated, Lovely’s Protege batchmate and winner of the talent search, Krizza Neri visited her and offered help.
But, before Neri visited Lovely, she organized a benefit show for the homeless singer.
On February 3, Krizza finally met her homeless friend. Lovely still recognized her despite struggling with depression.
Krizza’s original plan is to offer her vacant condominium unit in Malate to Lovely and her mother. However, Daisy does not want to leave her two-year live-in partner, Nelson in the streets.
Lovely is against her mother’s love affair.

Because of Daisy’s decision, Krizza opted to checked-in the three of them in a Hotel near the GMA Network Kapuso Foundation.
The Kapuso Foundation is helping Lovely in her medication and temporary shelter.
This February 8, Krizza will lead a benefit show for Lovely.
The activity will be held at Zirkoh Comedy Bar, Tomas Morato Avenue, Quezon City, owned by Allan K.
Jaya, Lovely’s mentor during the reality show Protege and Aiza Seguerra, Krizza’s mentor in the now-defunct show will be performing in the benefit show.
