24/7 actor Arjo Atayde said he considers the delayed discussion of Congress on ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal as someone being on a power trip.
In line with this, Arjo felt bad for the network and for the thousands of employees he was able to talk personally when he joined the ‘Walk of Faith.’
Arjo said, “I was very disappointed because of how, I guess it’s a power trip, ayoko magsalita baka ano pa masabi ko. I just think it’s a power trip, but I feel bad for the network, for the people, yung mga trabaho ng mga tao.”
During the interview with Allan Diones, Arjo stated that if he only could offer help to the thousands of employees scared to lose their jobs, he would.
“I did the walk yesterday, I saw how sad people when I was talking to them, how will they lose their jobs, I get it. What affects me more, the fact na I realized na oo that’s how affected people actually, na-witness ko talaga while walking how scared they are, it’s very very sad, gusto kong sabihin tulungan kita, kung pwede lang eh, I’ll help.”
Last week, House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano emphasized that the Congress was too busy to discuss the giant network’s franchise, and they cannot prioritize it. But he was able to spearhead a Kobe Bryant exhibit at the House of Representatives, despite the 11 filed bills seeking for the ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal.
Fortunately, President Rodrigo Duterte has finally accepted ABS-CBN’s apology but then he firmly believes that the franchise renewal approval should come from Congress and not from him.
