For the first day of showing for Block Z in cinemas nationwide, it earned P4 million on January 29, 2020. But then on its second day, it only garnered P3 million.
Despite Star Cinema’s full support for Director Mikhail Red’s film, netizens considered Block Z as a ‘mild’ blockbuster movie which is quite good, compared to Coleen Garcia’s Mia, Ai-Ai Delas Alas’s D’ Ninang, and Yam Concepcion’s Nightshift.

As of this moment, there are no statements yet coming from the Block Z director and producer regarding its weekend gross income.
Meanwhile, Director Mikhail asked moviegoers to set aside issues between lead stars Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto, as they are not the only actors in this film.
He also added that all the cast did a good job in their respective roles.
“I hope ‘yung mga petty issues don’t overshadow this film. Sayang eh, kasi it’s a testament of Filipino genre cinema and a lot of them were really surprised. All the cast did a good job and napakita nila versatility nila. McCoy (De Leon) being a cool kid in real life biglang nerd, Joshua finally showed this physical sa role niya, si Julia coming from romantic, drama biglang dito action star. Ms. Dimples (Romana) very gentle, graceful minsan, pero dito sa Block Z siya ‘yung main shotgun, and then Ms. Ina (Raymundo) the first-ever parang mother zombie, siya ‘yung main villain dito. “
Mikhail also admitted that he never expected Star Cinema to produce an R rated zombie film, and hoped the fandoms will unite and support Kapamilya stars’ first-ever zombie project.
“Sobrang excited, kasi we did so many game-changing things, kahit ‘yung studio systems surprised me. Never in my wildest dreams na-imagine ko na Star Cinema would do R rated zombie movies with a lot of these young actors, their first R rated film ‘tas maka-cloud tayo ng very petty issues.”
He continued: “No matter what fandom niyo, I hope you all unite and support this movie. Kasi, when you watch the movie, you will realize it’s not just about the actors eh, it’s about their characters ‘don kayo mai-inlove sa characters nila, sa journey nila. You’ll all realize na you’ll be rooting for all their characters to survive.”

Some may think that Block Z is not doing really well in numbers, but there are still movie watchers who praised Mikhail for directing such a great movie and proved that the actors in this film really did a good job.

Huyy totoo. Naiyak din ako sa mga crying scenes ni Julia! The girl deserves more projects like this.
Also si Yves, effective. Naiinis pa din ako sa kanya hanggang ngayon.

Block Z (2020): Watch It
Although #BlockZ offers nothing new to the genre, Red’s ability to create a movie of this scale and setting is highly commendable. And in a fight or flight situation, characters are remarkably rational and smart. Excited for the possible franchise! pic.twitter.com/VPeafLh43m
