After his successful pinning ceremony as pilot last year, singer and pilot Ronnie Liang graduated from military training at the Armor “Pambato” Division (AD), February 14, in Tarlac.
“Started this 2018 pa pero wala akong sinabihan. I actually volunteered. I said na gusto kong maging parte s’yempre to serve the country, to help the community lalo na sa panahon ng pangangailangan. Remember Marawi siege? ‘Yun ang nagpagising sa akin na talagang kailangan natin magtulungan as a nation.”
Liang, who’s qualified for the army because of his college degree, ROTC background, and pilot background, took the Mechanized Infantry Operations Training (MIOT) Course to further equip his reservist competencies in addressing conventional and external threats.
The rigorous course highlights battle drills, armored vehicle defensive driving, raid mission training, and lectures on enemy armored threats.
“Grabe ‘yung training. Such a humbling experience. 4 am pa lang gumigising na. Super strict sa time and kilos. Dapat talagang mabilis ka kumilos. From eating your food to taking a bath. Sobrang ma-physical nung training but at the end of the day iisipin mo na malaki ang maitutulong nun sa character mo and pagmamahal mo sa bayan natin.”
The actor received his black beret and mechanized patches as 2nd Lieutenant from Pambato Commander Maj. Gen. Robert Dauz as they symbolize respect, dedication, passion, commitment, loving of what you do, and willingness to sacrifice your life for the country.
Newly promoted 2nd Lt. said he will still finish his commercial pilot. Last year, he got his pin as a private pilot.
He’s also promoting his collab song with Pop Star Royalty Sarah Geronimo titled “Liwanag,” available on Spotify and other digital music platforms.
This year, he will produce new songs dedicated to his supporters. He’s also one of the performers for PAGCOR TOUR and part of the upcoming movie under Viva that stars Bela Padilla and Marco Gumabao.
“2019 was such a good year for me. Super blessed talaga. Kaya super thankful talaga ako kina Boss Vic of Viva, sa family, and sa supporters ko. I will continue making music. And will always find time to manage everything from being a pilot to being a 2nd Lt. Ngayon, mas lumalim talaga ‘yung pagmamahal ko sa bayan natin. I’m encouraging din ang mga kabataan to join the army and promote ROTC. Let’s all help each other,” Liang ended.
