ABS-CBN was “grateful and humbled” that President Rodrigo Duterte accepted its apology over a critical campaign commercial during the 2016 Presidential Elections.
Two days after ABS-CBN President and CEO Carlo Katigbak publicly apologized to him during the first congressional hearing on their franchise at the Senate, President Rodrigo Duterte has accepted the apology saying, “Nandiyan na eh. I accept the apology, of course.”
But Duterte said ABS-CBN should just donate the remaining ₱2.6-million the network owes him for its failure to air his political advertisements during the 2016 election.
Statement on President Rodrigo Duterte’s acceptance of ABS-CBN’s apology:
“We are grateful and humbled by President Rodrigo Duterte’s acceptance of our apology.”
“We will coordinate with the President’s office as it relates to his guidance on donating the refund to a charitable institution.”
“ABS-CBN remains committed to becoming a better organization and to continue to provide more meaningful service to Filipinos.”
ABS-CBN’s current franchise will expire on May 4.
