One way to get more viewers is to show oneness with the rival network. Rivals can also be friends.

ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal bills are still pending at the House Committee on Legislative Franchises.
In his latest pronouncement, House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano said the Congress is still busy with other matters thus they cannot find time to schedule deliberations on ABS-CBN franchise renewal.
Cayetano also said the renewal is not urgent (even though ABS-CBN’s franchise is set to expire on March 30, 2020) since they can continue to operate until the end of the 18th Congress in 2022.
“Hindi [ito] ganoon ka-urgent. Bakit? Kasi hanggang March 2022, pwedeng mag-operate,” said Cayetano
“There’s a consensus that while we’re discussing the issue, walang reason na isara [ang ABS-CBN],” he added.
