In a press conference held at ELJ Building for her contract signing to continue being one of the judges of Your Face Sounds Familiar, Sharon Cuneta made a plea to President Rodrigo Duterte to reconsider the franchise renewal of the network.
Sharon started, “So, I’ll just say this before saying goodbye, I pray that our dear President reconsiders his decision about ABS-CBN. Not just because I just renewed, I can always find a job. But everybody I grew up with here who have remained loyal to the station, and have grown up here, have learned from the school of hard knocks here, have become family, good friends – will lose almost everything they’ve built over the years.”
The soon to be the judge of Your Face Sounds Familiar also expressed her heartfelt opinion towards the President’s advice to sell the network. She claimed that even if ABS-CBN sells the network, everything won’t be the same, from the management up to the programs and even the policies along with it.
Sharon continued, “And even those that might choose to stay, if indeed, you know, unfortunately, goes that way, it won’t be the same. So, I hope in my heart that our dear President reconsiders the thousands and thousands of Pinoys who have grown up here, learned the ropes here, that includes me.”

Sharon even recalled her memories when she first appeared on ABS-CBN and reminisced about the people she has worked with when she was just starting in the entertainment industry.
“Thank you for welcoming me, along with ABS-CBN, here to my home that I am so proud to say I was already a part of when we didn’t have this building yet. And my dressing room was Ma’am Charo’s office which was already dilapidated and falling down before the renovations. And I’m so proud of how far we have come. Thank you.”
Moreover, she stated that aside from her fellow veteran actress, she’s proud to have known the current executives of the network during her younger years.
“I am proudest of all, kasi lumaki na ako dito. So, yung mga nakasama kong mas bata sa akin, kaedad ko noon, mga boss na ngayon. But a lot of them would still call me Inay, everybody they have good positions here, but when I’m here, it’s like old times.”
ABS-CBN only has three months left before their license expires. Until now, there are still House leaders and even allies of Duterte who hope and appeal that the President reconsider his decision in renewing the network’s franchise.
