The stars of GMA Network’s afternoon drama Prima Donnas were happy with the recent success of their program.
Based on the latest numbers from AGB Nielsen NUTAM People ratings Prima Donnas continued to win against rival Kadenang Ginto for several weeks now.
In the most recent survey result covering January 6, 2020, Prima Donnas registered a rating of 9.8%, 3.2% higher than Kadenang Ginto‘s 6.6%.
Aside from AGB, which is the best-known bailiwick of the Kapuso network, ABS-CBN’s survey provider Kantar Media also scored a win for the Kapuso series.
In the same survey period, Prima Donnas registered 20.9%, 3.5% higher than Kadenang Ginto‘s 17.4%.
Prima Donna‘s lead is a come from behind win against its Kapamilya rival.
Since Kadenang Ginto‘s pilot last 2018, the teleserye has been lording over their timeslot and has been featured in viral and trending memes and topics online.
With Prima Donnas‘ premiere in last August 2019, it was an easy win for the Kapamilya drama. Prima Donnas pilot just scored 2.4%, 11.1% lower than Kadenang Ginto‘s 12.9%.
But as the story progressed, the Kapuso drama caught up and is now beating its rival.
Surprise Win.
That win was a surprise for Prima Donnas’ cast.
In an interview with Pep.ph, Sofia Pablo and Althea Ablan shared their sentiments about their latest win against the more popular soap.
According to Sofia, she honestly did not expect to win against their rival but she is hopeful because of the big stars they have in the series.
“Before po, honestly, parang I had hope po na baka mag-rate kasi yung mga kasama din po namin, mga matatagal na rin po silang artista and siyempre, marami na rin po kaming nai-inspire na tao sa mga nakaraan po naming palabas,” Sofia said.
However, with Kadenang Ginto‘s hype on social media, she admitted that they will really have a hard time competing with them.
“Pero knowing po na yung kalaban namin is sobrang hype din po sila, mapa-internet or in person, sobrang lakas nila, medyo hindi ko po in-expect, baka mahirapan kami.
“Kaya noong first time po na nanalo kami, wow nanalo na rin tayo! Congrats everyone,” she added.
Althea, meanwhile is not hoping that they’ll beat their show’s rival. But when it happened she just thanked God for the blessings.
“Actually, sa akin, hindi ko talaga na-feel na matatalo namin yung kabila, kasi siyempre, magagaling na yun na artista.
“Hindi ko in-expect na matatalo namin sila, pero thank God na natalo namin sila!” said Althea.
