Nadine Lustre has denied a rumored break-up with boyfriend James Reid as she slammed veteran columnist Ricky Lo who wrote about it in his Philippine Star column.
Lustre didn’t mince any words in her Instagram story post where she blasted Lo for writing a story alleging a confirmed breakup of the two.
“First off, that was so low @therealrickylo @philippinestar.
“Second, none of what you said was true and it is never okay to use someone’s mental situation/tragic past just to prove a point. Mental illness is a very sensitive matter,” she wrote.
“And last, you think you know so much about me, you can’t even get my last name right. Anu na, 2020 na!” she added.
In the Philippine Star article published both in print and online, Lo allegedly confirmed Lustre and Reid’s breakup.
Titled JaDine breakup: A case of too much, too soon?, Lo wrote that Jojo Gabinete’s scoop which appeared in Pep.ph is not fake news.
“Despite the protestations of JaDines who seem to be in denial about their idols James Reid and Nadine Lustre’s reported breakup, the sad reality is that Jojo Gabinete’s scoop in pep.ph is true, and not fake news,” wrote Lo.
Lo also added that Nadine already packed up and left their Quezon City home for a condo in Makati.
In a printed version (which supposedly got on the nerves of Nadine), the veteran columnist also mentioned Nadine’s mental state being affected by her brother’s suicide.
“James is handling the breakup with care to cushion the impact on Nadine who has admitted [to] grappling with mental illness (she had a brother who committed suicide),” Lo added.
Some celebrities and netizens couldn’t help but comment on the said issue. It even reached the top trending topics on Twitter.

Nadine and James were together at the New Year’s countdown concert at Eastwood in Quezon City as part of Careless Music Manila artists. They also welcomed the New Year with some friends at a small party in Rockwell.
