- Melai Cantiveros signed the online petition for the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP).
- The comedian-actress asked her Instagram followers to sign up the online petition for the ABS-CBN franchise renewal.
Melai Cantiveros admits as a Kapamilya star, it is important for ABS CBN to renew its broadcasting franchise.
This is also in connection to the series of threats by President Rodrigo Duterte assuring the non-renewal of ABS-CBN’s broadcasting franchise this year. He also accused the Network of swindling him due to failure in putting up his paid ads in the Presidential Election 2016.
This is not the first time that the President threatened the network that he will personally be one to stop its renewal.
According to the Magandang Buhay host, “For me talaga, dun ako nagtratrabaho sa aking mother network na ABS-CBN, importante talaga sa akin ma-renew siya kasi siyempre dun ako kumukuha ng pangkabuhayan ko araw araw. Kaya gusto ko talaga ma-renew, Pero siyempre hinde natin maiwasan ang mga issue,” she said.
“Kung ano talaga ang mangyayari, kung will man ni God na ano mangyari, tatangapin natin. Kasi ganun talaga buhay eh.”
She also appealed to President Duterte in Bisaya during her signing with ADOBO Connection as the restaurant’s newest endorser on January 21, “Bigyan ng chance.”
Prior to the signing of her endorsement contract, the former PBB housemate grand winner asked her1.3M Instagram followers to sign up the online petition of the National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) with a caption: ‘Sign in Kapamilya.’
The petition needs one million signatures.
Not only Melai who signed the petition, but also her co-Kapamilya stars like Lea Salonga, Showtime hosts–Vice Ganda and Ann Curtis, Queen Mother Karla Estrada, TNTHurado Ogie Alcasid, Marvin Agustin, and Ria Atayde.
