- Liza Soberano narrated her misunderstanding with her dad caused by Enrique Gil
- This happened during their taping for their launching project Forevermore in 2015
In the Magandang Buhay episode last Monday, January 13, Liza Soberano admitted that she once had a misunderstanding with her dad, John, because of her reel-to-to real life partner Enrique Gil.
Her father revealed, “Those were the ‘Forevermore’ days na she was taping like three days straight, even five days sometimes. I was serving food for her but then Enrique offered, so she took Enrique’s offer and I got jealous. So I had to step down because she’s becoming a lady, a woman. I had to step down on my throne as a father because I feel this vibe that’s something’s really going on. Since they’re doing a project together, I can’t be in the middle.”
He added that he chose to stop interfering in the budding romance of Liza and Enrique in those days to avoid any more conflicts.
Liza said she knew that her father was resentful at her that time but she said she understood him.
“Ay galit na galit talaga. I remember kasi one time noong na-pack up kami, pag-uwi namin sa hotel hindi niya ako pinapansin. Then I was like, ‘what’s wrong?’ And he was like, ‘you know.’ And I’m like ‘no, I don’t.’ And he was like ‘you know, I see how close you and Enrique are.’ And I’m like ‘yeah because we are working together.’ Pero siyempre in denial ako kahit kami na talaga. So sabi niya I don’t like how close you guys are getting, your boundaries and stuff like that, ‘yun lang naman. Of course, as a father he feels like he’s losing his little girl, parang may ganun naman lahat ng fathers when their daughters start dating. So ako I had to understand his situation also,” she explained.
