Bela Padilla took it lightly when asked about the impending renewal of her home network ABS-CBN.
In a sideline interview with reporters, Bela was asked her take on the franchise renewal woes that ABS-CBN is facing.
In response, Bela jokingly answered, saying she’ll be jobless if ever.
“Shocks mawawalan na pala ko ng trabaho,” she said.
Asked if ABS-CBN management has talked to them about their plans for the artists if they fail to secure the renewal, Bela only said no and that she doesn’t what to think about it.
“Wala nga po eh, may nasabi na po ba sa inyo?….Ayaw ko po syang pagisipan na mawawalan na ko ng trabaho,” Bela added.
The Kapamilya network is currently battling for their franchise renewal which will expire in March 2020.
Franchise renewal bills have been stalled in Congress since 2016 after President Rodrigo Duterte’s repeated attacks and opposition to the move. Duterte accused ABS-CBN of swindling him after his alleged paid campaign ads were not aired by the media giant.
Currently, there are already 9 bills filed by 11 Congressmen asking to renew the Kapamilya network’s franchise. Legislative Franchise Committee head Rep. Franz Alvarez assured that they will start tackling the bills once the Congress resumes on January 20.
Meanwhile, Bela is currently promoting her reunion film with JC Santos. Titled On Vodka, Beers, and Regrets, this is Bela and JC’s follow-up film after the critically acclaimed 100 Tula Para Kay Stella in 2017 and The Day After Valentines in 2018. They were both also in Miracle in Cell No. 7.
The film is written and directed by Irene Villamor and will start showing in cinemas on February 5, 2020.
