Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza “Yaya Dub” tandem started in the year 2015 via the longest-running noontime show in the country Eat Bulaga.
The fans called the tandem as AlDub and became a phenomenal love team due to its popularity in Eat Bulaga’s Juan for all for Juan segment called this live show Kalyeserye.
Off-screen, they are still referred as AlDub as their fandom recognized them even if they no longer appear via the Kalyeserye.
Both become product endorsers and appeared in separate films and shows.
In the year 2017 the AlDub first did their romantic-comedy teleserye via Destined to be Yours, which aired for three months only.
One of the recognitions that the tandem received was People of the Year 2016 by the People Asia Magazine as record-breaker in the Twitter history for generating 40,706,392 tweets in the Tamang Panahon event in the Philippine Arena.
In 2018 the two appeared separately as they have been receiving solo projects, this starts to break the Aldub nation, slowly.
In 2019, when Maine turned 24 in March she went public with a dating status with a Kapamilya star Arjo Atayde, this broke the hearts of the AlDub fans.
After the silence, just this year the AlDub Nation organized an event to remember the Aldub tandem and aptly titled it as A Night to Remember with Alden and Maine.
More than 300 fans attended the event, new and old members. They were also celebrating their five years of friendships.
Mendoza was in Cebu on Saturday to represent Eat Bulaga together with Paolo Ballesteros and Allan K with the Ms. Millennial Philippines 2018 and 2019, but after, the Kapuso star rushed to Manila to attend the said event.
Even if Alden was not around, fans are still happy to see Maine and chose to understand the reason for failing to show-up due to schedules and prior commitments.
Maine gave her overwhelming thanks, “Maraming salamat sa patuloy na support ninyo sa amin ni Alden kahit may kani-kaniyang kaming project.”
