- The Gift series got extended for one more week
- GMA Network first planned to end the series sooner
- It stars Alden Richards in the lead role
The Gift starring Alden Richards was granted a one-week extended run. GMA Network was supposed to end the series earlier but they eventually changed their decision.
The primetime drama series started to air last year on September 16 and it gained consistent ratings throughout its run. The show was also packed with commercials and most of its scenes trended online.
Besides these, Alden’s praiseworthy acting skills in the drama show was one reason it deserved extended episodes. He is one of the most popular and well-loved actors of the Kapuso network.
In an article of Abante, a source described Alden as, “Very positive kasi ang aura niya. Palaging nakangiti. Saka hindi siya namimili ng kakausapin.
“Kami, habang hinihintay namin ang plane sa boarding area, kinausap niya kami. Nagkataon namang pareho kaming taga-Laguna.
“Humble si Alden, hindi niya kinalilimutan ang pinanggalingan niya, low key siya kahit pa sikat na sikat na siya.”
Directed by Lord Alvin Madridejos, The Gift has aired 83 episodes in less than five months. It tells the story of Joseph/Seph (Alden) who is able to foretell the future and look back into the past after he becomes blind. He will use this ability to help his community in times of need. Alden even underwent an immersion to acquaint himself with how a blind person lives. The series was mostly shot in Divisoria.
It also stars Jean Garcia, Jo Berry, Mikee Quintos, Betong Sumaya, Christian Vasquez, Elizabeth Oropesa, Rochelle Pangilinan, Martin del Rosario, Mikoy Morales, and Ysabel Ortega.
