Metro Manila, November 2019 – The first L’Oréal Business School (LBS) graduating class of 2019 celebrated the 22 graduates that successfully completed the eight-day extensive business program in partnership with the University of the Philippines, Diliman.
L’Oréal Business School provides industry professionals access to business and entrepreneurial proficiency to complement their existing skills and knowledge in hairdressing in order to build and expand their salon businesses.
The first run of the program in the country is a significant milestone for the brand as they continue to live out their commitment to education by upskilling local hair salon owners into becoming more globally competitive professionals.
The LBS program is currently deployed in two APAC countries, the Philippines and Vietnam, with the Philippines being the first to launch this year in October 2019 led by the L’Oréal Professional Products Division (PPD).
“L’Oréal PPD as a group not only stands for democratizing the access to tools and knowledge, but also ensuring excellence in the field. Education has always been at the heart of L’Oréal as a pioneer in educating beauty professionals. We want to stay true to the power of education by taking on the challenge to empower professional salon owners in the country to become the next innovators in the beauty industry. Not only do our graduates get to take home business certifications, but they leave LBS equipped with the right knowledge and skillset to successfully operate and grow their respective businesses which is our vision for the program and our students,” said Luis Yanga, General Manager, L’Oréal Philippines Professional Products Division.
After undergoing daily lectures for eight days under the tutelage of distinguished industry educators and professionals such as Luis Lee, a professor from the University of the Philippines; Jon Bantigue, Azta Urban Salon owner, Camille Ilagan, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Jesi Mendez Salon, and Jude Hipolito and Rose Velasco owners of JURO Salon Exclusif and Brand Ambassadors of L’Oreal Professionnel. The modules covered topics around Salon Business, Salon Operations, Salon Management and Ethics and the Digital Capability and Ecosystem.
“The launch of the L’Oréal Business School is a very exciting time for the brand and for our salon industry in the country. We want more Filipinos to have access to the right kind of support with the skills that utilize their interpersonal, business and creative abilities. As we strive for a winning collaboration with professional hairdressers, we at L’Oréal aim to empower them at different points in the career journeys by pushing them to the next level in hopes to help them make their mark in the industry. It is through education that we not only empower them but transform them to become world-class innovative professional salon owners,” shared Mr. Yanga.
The success of LBS proves not only the need for a well-structured institution of educational resources for industry professionals who are yearning to acquire business skills, but also the potential and scale of real people that the program can impact and make a difference. As L’Oréal Philippines looks to uplift the Philippine salon industry with world class hairdressers partnered with brilliant salon owners, the brand will continue to share beauty with all next year as they officially announced the continuation of L’Oréal Business School program in 2020.
